Taking Something Excerpt Blast!

About TAKING SOMETHING:

I know what you're thinking. “You were such a jerk, Nick!”  Believe me, I know I screwed up the best thing I had going in my life, but that was kind of my thing. I’d learned how to run cons before I could even form complete sentences, and I'd always been selfish.  But I changed.  Lila forgave me, my brother and I were getting along, and I was trying to make a name for myself in the music world.

At least that was what I was trying to do when I negotiated my way into the recording studio with pop superstar Sadie Sinclair. I thought it would be a piece of cake—charm my way into her heart and into her record label's good graces.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I got mixed up in a web of lies, manipulation, and deception. A web that had me questioning my motives and desires altogether.
Was the fame and fortune really worth the price?

Excerpt:

“How about you pour me a cup of coffee, sweat pea?” I finally spoke, breaking the trace her graceful hands had on me and pointing at steaming coffee press in between us. She sighed and placed the knife she was holding down on the counter. With her empty hands firmly placed down on the marble, she looked up at me.
“Look, sweat pea,” she lipped. “I've got enough people to wait on and one of them actually pays me for it. If you want a cup of coffee, I suggest you get up off your self-entitled ass and pour one.”
My feet were on the floor and leading me around the counter to the cabinets before I had a chance to realize what I was doing. It must have been the look in her eyes or maybe I just felt like not being a jerk. I needed to be on her good side before I asked her the question I'd been thinking about all night.
“Mugs are in the one next to the fridge,” she told me, picking up her knife to continue her job.
“Thanks,” I replied, grateful that her civility was quick to return, and grabbed mug. I moved over next to her. The sweet smell of the fruit coupled with the scent of her shampoo, or soap, or maybe it was just her, had my mouth watering. Then she looked over and smiled at me, watching as I poured the coffee. Barely any make-up and her chocolate hair flowing down to the middle of her back, un-styled. Not my normal type, but something about her had me swallowing hard. And apparently daydreaming, because as I was watching her I decided I was going to fill my hand with scalding hot coffee instead of the mug it was holding. “Son of bitch,” I seethed.
Gia reacted quickly, pulling a washcloth from the drawer and soaking it with cool water. She was at my side quickly placing it on my stinging hand.
“Let me see,” she said sweetly, her eyes full of concern. She pulled back the rag and pulled my hand up. “I don't think it's going to blister.”
God, she's beautiful. The look of concern on her face. The feel of her hand in mine. I had to remind myself to take a breath. I wanted more than anything to reach out and touch her face. Her warm, caring, concerned face.
“Thank you,” I said, pulling the rag from her hand and placing it back on the burn. She released her hand from mine and I took a step back. There had only been one other person who looked at me the way Gia was and we all know how that ended. I couldn't let myself get wrapped up in the idea that another person could actually care about me. And I sure as hell didn't deserve her compassion. I had been a total dick to her.

“That's beautiful,” she said, reaching over and trailing her fingers across the moon tattoo on my right forearm. I wanted her to run her fingers over my skin again. All of it.

The Sweetest Mistake by Chelsea M. Cameron

17279511

Book Blurb:

The past will always find you.

Jos Archer was the girl with the perfect life; until the night it all came crashing down around her. Now, nine months later, she still hasn't begun to pick up the pieces. Even transferring to a new college and living under the watchful eye of her older sister, Renee, isn't enough to help her feel normal again.

And then she meets Dusty Sharp. For reasons Jos can't begin to fathom, the newly reformed campus bad boy seems determined to draw her out of her shell. And if she's not careful, his knowing green eyes and wicked smile will make her feel things she's no longer sure she deserves.

But even as Dusty coaxes Jos to open up about the past, he's hiding secrets of his own. Secrets about the night her old life fell apart. When the truth is finally revealed, will it bring them closer together;or tear them apart for good?

Review:

4 Stars!

Like always Chelsea did a bang up job. I absolutely loved My Favorite Mistake, the first book in this series and this wasn't any different.

I fell in love with Dusty. He was like the bad boy, but not exactly the bad boy, bad boy who doesn't do anything really bad in the present, but has done somewhat bad things in the past. He seemed extremely hot, I'm not one for extremely baggy pants, like his in the book, it's not really my thing, but other than that everything about him was hot. He was nice, protective, and swoon-worthy.

Jos was not what I thought should would be. When I found out there was going to be a second book and it was going to be Renee's sister, I thought she was going to be like Taylor and Renee's friends, as in dress like them and their personalities would be somewhat the same, but I was wrong. Jos was a guarded, snappy, dark thoughts along with alternative dress ware. As I read though, she wasn't always who she was in the present during this book. She used to dress differently and live a different lifestyle. Truthfully I like the person she was in the book than who she was in her past, the person we didn't get to see. I didn't quite like her past self.

I really liked the characters in this book and how we get to see more about Taylor and the rest of the bunch in this book. The only reason I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because I wish we would've seen more of a relationship between Jos and Dusty. They had a very explosive chemistry that they both fought for most of the book, But in my opinion they fought it too much and didn't get to see them together as much as I would have liked. I like being able to see the two main characters together in a relationship and see them get to know each other and banter. It makes books capture my attention more when they're like that. I loved this book, I just wish they didn't fight what they felt for so long.

Otherwise, I love this book and hope to see more in this series and more books produced in the future from Chelsea. I will always be a follower of her books, they're that good. So congrats Chelsea, you did a wonderful job, continue to make writing magic!

Book Blurb:

Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Gray Phillips is at a crossroads in his life: stay in the Marine Corps or get out and learn to be a civilian? He’s got forty-five days of leave to make up his mind but the people in his life aren’t making the decision any easier. His dad wants him to get out; his grandfather wants him to stay in. And his growing feelings for Sam Anderson are wreaking havoc with his heart…and his mind. He believes relationships get ruined when a Marine goes on deployment. So now he’s got an even harder decision to make: take a chance on Sam or leave love behind and give his all to the Marines.

Twenty-two year old Samantha Anderson lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan just two months after their vows. Two years later, Sam is full of regrets—that she didn’t move with her husband to Alaska; that she allowed her friends to drift away; that she hasn’t taken many chances in life. Now, she’s met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?

Excerpt

His tongue and mouth left mine to leave a hot, wet path from my mouth, across my jaw line, and down to my neck. My leg lifted of its own accord and he took it as a sign to hitch me up higher until both my legs either dangled off the floor or wrapped around him. I chose to wrap my legs around him and was rewarded with a thick hard column pressing into my sex. We both groaned at the contact and I could feel his sound against my neck. The reverberations sent minor shocks throughout my nervous system. Holding me up against the wall, he began thrusting against me rhythmically, every impact of his hips making me hotter and wetter than I remembered I could get.

I gripped him tighter with my legs and dug my hands into his hair, using every bit of his body as leverage. He held me up with ease, as if I were a feather. One hand was under my right butt cheek and the other was exploring my left side, pulling out my T-shirt, only to find the tank underneath. Needing his mouth back, I tugged on his hair and he took the hint immediately. He fastened his lips over mine and we devoured each other, still rubbing our lower bodies against each other as the bass from the dance floor pounded the floor boards. Whimpering, I begged in moans and small cries for more. A familiar but almost forgotten tension was winding its way from between my legs outward. All thoughts of storage rooms and hallways and strangers were lost in a swirl of bright lights that were bursting behind my eyelids.

“I’d got you, baby,” he growled against my mouth. “Just let go.” And so I did. I closed my eyes and let those long dormant feelings wash over me, spreading from the inside of my legs to the nerve endings in my toes and fingertips and the very top of my head. All the while, he kept grinding and grinding and grinding against me, whispering in my war how I was the hottest thing he’d ever held, how he couldn’t wait to taste, how he’d die if he couldn’t be inside me tonight.

Review

5 Stars!

I knew going into this book that it would be different from the first two Woodlands books, and boy was I right. Even though the book was different from the other books doesn't mean it was any less AWESOME! I thought I loved the first two Woodland boys, but then came Gray and I couldn't even tell you who the first two boys are. Grayson Phillips is a fantasy. He is caring, sweet, adventurous, HAWT, a little damaged, did I say HAWT? and just the most perfect man EVER!

When Jen brought Gray into the second book (Unspoken) I really liked him so when I heard he was getting his own book I was EXTREMELY overjoyed. But I didn't know how Jen would write his story. It either could have been Gray falling in love with a young college student like AnnMarie or Grace from the first two books (one of their friends, possibly?) or the way she ended up writing his story with Sam.

I'll be truthful, at first when I saw the book blurb on goodreads I didn't think I was going to like this book at all because it wasn't like the first two books, which I am in love with, I didn't think Jen could top Bo's or Noah's stories, BUT I WAS WRONG and pleasantly surprised by my reaction! Gray and Sam's story was original and had two different views on the war and relationships; Sam losing her husband to the war and Gray's beliefs that relationships can't survive a Marine deployment.

What I found that I really liked in this book are the demons that both Gray and Sam were fighting, but they didn't even realize they were until the very end. So the in between parts were frustrating like all romance-type books usually are. But the love that they clearly shared for each other and their crazy adventures made the frustrating parts easier to cope with!

This is an AMAZING book that I highly recommend all to read. (EVERYONE SHOULD READ THE ENTIRE SERIES!) It was funny, sexy, heartbreaking, and has a HEA that everyone will love. I cannot wait for the next book in the series, at least I hope there's more books for the rest of the Woodlands men or I will cry-body shaking, loud sobbing, and a runny nose that could compete with a water fall -type of crying. So please Jen don't make me cry! ;)

Book Blurb

For four years, Grace Sullivan wrote to a Marine she never met, and fell in love. But when his deployment ended, so did the letters. Noah has always known exactly what he wants out of life. Success. Stability. Control. That’s why he joined the Marines and that’s why he’s fighting his way — literally — through college. Now that he’s got the rest of his life on track, he has one last conquest: Grace Sullivan. But since he was the one who stopped writing, he knows that winning her back will be his biggest battle yet.

Book Blurb

Whore. Slut. Typhoid Mary.

I've been called all these at Central College. One drunken night, one act of irresponsible behavior, and my reputation was ruined. Guys labeled me as easy and girls shied away. To cope, I stayed away from Central social life and away from Central men, so why is it that my new biology lab partner is so irresistible to me?

He's everything I shouldn't want. A former Marine involved in illegal fighting with a quick trigger temper and an easy smile for all the women. His fists aren't the danger to me, though, it's his charm. He's sliding his way into my heart and I'm afraid that he's going to be the one to break me.

Impulsive. Unthinking. Hot tempered.

I allow instinct to rule my behavior. If it feels good, do it, has been my motto because if I spend too much time thinking, I'll begin to remember exactly where I came from. At Central College, I've got fighting and I've got women and I thought I was satisfied until I met her.

She's everything I didn't realize I wanted and the more time I spend with her, the more I want her. But she's been hurt too much in the past and I don't want to be the one to break her. I know I should walk away, but I just can't.

Review:

5 Stars!

Well what can I say...this is by Kristen Proby so obviously I am going to give her 5 FREAKING AMAZINGLY SEXY STARS, of course. This is another great addition to the With Me series. I actually began this series by reading this book. I started it one late night, fighting sleep, wanting to find another book to feed my reading addiction. And this book popped up as a New Release and after reading the blurb I instantly bought it and stayed up all night falling in love with Sam and Leo. Then the next day I began the series from book one, and never looking back. And I've got to say it was the best decision I've ever made. Kristen is an amazing author and I will be a follower and a buyer of all her books for the rest of her writing career!

So back to Sam and Leo. They both didn't want a relationship and that makes this a kind of book that I absolutely love. The main reason is because they don't even want a relationship, but then they end up in a relationship and fall so madly in love, it's awesome! Sam is a stubborn girl with huge concrete walls putting humongous amounts of space between herself and those she loves. That is until Leo walks into her life. He's a sexy, arrogant, but also sweet musician who won't let up when it comes to wanting Sam. And soon Sam cannot resist, because come on who could resist a sexy rock star who wants you, I know I wouldn't/couldn't resist a man like Leo.

Their relationship starts off rough, but they soon find level grounding. Sam is reluctant to allow herself to fall in love with Leo or move too fast. And so is Leo, to an extent. He wants to shout to the world his love for Sam, and she couldn't stop him, even if she isn't quite ready for his forever-type love. It's just so cute and swoon-worthy, I cannot even handle it. If you haven't read a book by Kristen Proby, do it now. Please :)

Review:

5 Stars!

I wait for this book for like months on months on months. Then I was so mad that I had to wait one more day before the book came out, but surprisingly it went on sale a day early which prompted me to buy and read the entire book, staying up until four to do so. That night I got about two hours of sleep until I had to drive back to college. Definitely not the smartest idea in the world but Kristen Proby made that two hour night of sleep completely worth it.

Ever since Brynna came into the picture in pervious books, she was a complete mystery. She was obviously running from her past, but I didn't know it would be as crazy as it actually was.

Brynna and Caleb are super cute together. They have an explosive chemistry and fit perfectly together. Caleb is this tough, muscular, sexy man that has his many demons to fight from the multiple war situations he was put into. But even his damaged and hardened exterior, he is the biggest teddy bear. He is especially lovable when he is around Brynna's twin daughters. My heart just melted when those scenes came up in the book. Caleb is completely swoon-worthy! While there are many parts where Brynna and Caleb are extremely cute and awesome, they still fight. And Brynna is not one to stand down to a tough SEAL like Caleb. She is much stronger than you would think. She is fighting her past, not allowing it to bring her down or scare her or allow the nightmares to control Caleb. They make quite the pair.

This is an amazing addition to the wonderful With Me series. So far I don't think Kristen Proby could disappoint me in any way, her books are perfection. If you haven't started any of her books I suggest you do so as soon as possible, you won't be disappointed in the least.

Taking Shots by Toni Aleo

17504320

Book Blurb:

Elli Fisher has never thought she was good enough, let it be her job, her weight, her love life, nothing. That is until she meets Shea Adler. After doing a promotional shoot for the NHL team, the Assassins, she meets the hunky hockey player who shoots a puck, shattering her world.
Shea Adler was tired of the life he was living outside of the rink. The girls, the money blowing, the drinking, everything had to stop and it all did when he met Eleanor Fisher. He had never met anyone like her. She was feisty, witty, shy, and simply gorgeous. When he laid eyes on her, it was as if he was taking the hardest hit of his life into the boards, and he had to have her. Elli is a little skeptical of Shea, but he knows that they were meant to be together, and he needed her in his life.
Can Elli throw her insecurities out the window and love Shea with everything inside of her, or will she let a past relationship, and her family ruin any chance of her being happy.

Review:

5 Stars!

I LOVE SHEA ADLER! With a burning, fiery passion, it's close to inappropriate, but I won't tell if you don't! Anyways I love Shea so much he is my favorite Assassian hockey player (at least for now-Toni is still releasing Phillips book and you never know what could happen) as of right now. He is just so unbelievably perfect no other man even compares. Imagine your perfect man and that's Shea Adler.

Yes, Shea is awesome but so is Elli. She is a strong heroine. She has her insecurities like every other female, but she doesn't let people rail road her. She's not a girl who will sit by and let herself be taking advantage of.

These two together makes one hell of a book. I have probably read this book more than 100 times it's that good. Actually all of Toni Aleo's books are amazing. Once you read one book by her you can't stop, you won't want to stop, she's that good. So do it, push buy, it'll be the best decision you ever make.

She finds herself being torn in two as she quickly falls in love with both her new boyfriend, Brandon, and her roommate's brother, Chase. Despite their dangerous looks and histories, both men adore Harper and would do anything for her, including taking a step back if it would mean she'd be happy.

Review:

5 Stars!

ONE WORD: HEARTWRENCHING.

I don't even think I have any more to say about this book. This book took me on the wildest rollercoaster of my life. Like no other book evoked this many emotions out of me! Like HOLY CRAP!

First of all Harper, she goes off to college, getting away from her dad for the first time, and two guy fall head over heels for her within about two minutes. I don't think I could've handled this whole rollercoaster with as much class as Harper did. She went from having a pretty sheltered life to a crazy whirl wind life within about six months. Six months that changed her life so completely, if I was in her position I would have fallen apart. So you go girl, you are one hell of a girl for making it out alive.

Now for Brandon and Chase. I love them both. Like I LOVE THEM 100% EQUALLY, I don't know who to pick. Brandon is perfect and Chase is beautifully broken. If I met men like these two I would be the luckiest girl in the world. They are both amazing and hot, I just can't pick. Since I can't tell you who I like better, I'll just tell you that what Harper goes through with these two guys is HEARTWRENCHING! You WILL cry, you WILL want to hit something, you WILL want to curse Molly McAdams, but this book is worth it. So completely worth it I do not regret all the pain I went through just finishing this book. Molly is an amazing author and you would be a fool not to read this book or any of her other books. She'll put you through one hell of a ride but in the end she and her wicked ways are worth it!

On the ice, Lucas Brooks is the NHL’s leading scorer—at least when he’s not in the box. Off the ice, he’s a mess, with all his anger and misery bottled up inside. He threw away the most important person in his life and has regretted it ever since. But when Lucas returns to Nashville in a trade, he’s determined to convince Fallon that he’s a changed man. The attraction is still there. The tension is electrifying. But the odds are stacked against them—especially after Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a devastating secret.

Review:

5 stars!

Holy moley this was one HAWT book! It would have been even more steamy if Fallon didn't fight Lucas tooth and nail at every corner. And boy did she have enough reason to do so, Lucas made a HUMONGOUS MISTAKE that sometimes I don't think I could've ever forgiven him for, but there love was a once in a lifetime experience and Fallon would without a doubt be terribly lonely and regret pushing him away. In my opinion though I think Fallon's ways of pushing Lucas away was a little excessive. I guess it kept me on the edge of my couch, waiting for her to pick the love of her life over being alone for the rest of her life, so it still kept me hooked but also angry at the same time.

But back to what's really important...LUCAS and his serious sexiness on and off the rink. Of all the men of the Assassins (minus Shea-he is my all time favorite) Lucas is my second favorite. He is a young hot shot hockey player who is extremely sexy. He is sweet, loving, and supportive. When he finds out that Fallon and him had a child together, he didn't run, he fought for what he lost so many years before, only because he allowed his demons to eat him alive. But now he's there, healthy, the demons tamed and ready to take on the responsibilities of fatherhood. He also had the determination to fight for Fallon and the love they had shared and still hold close to their hearts.

One thing I love about Toni Aleo's male characters is that they fight so hard for the heroine that I feel like in real life there are not many men like that now-a-days or maybe I just haven't met the right kind of men. Out of all the men I think Lucas gets the prize though, he definitely had every reason to leave but he didn't lose faith in the love between him and Fallon.

This is one of the many great books from Toni Aleo's Assassins series. Her books are an amazingly fun experience that will keep you smiling for days after you finish one of them, they keep you hooked, and make you fall in love with the characters from the first second you meet them. So I recommend you to go out now and buy all of her books, you won't be disappointed and if you are you obviously have horrible reading tastes!

A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

5 Stars!

This is one hell of a rollercoaster ride. Like holy crap!! Della has lived a life I cannot even imagine. At some points in this book my stomach rolled. Her life has been hard and full of sickening secrets I don't think any person would end up okay in the end, like ever in their lives. But she unknowingly finds her peace in the arms of the rich business owner Woods Kerrington.

In the Fallen Too Far series I absolutely loved Woods, although I'm glad him and Blaire didn't end up together because Abbi Glines almost made that happen, so I am happy he got his own book instead.

Woods and Della started off their relationship with a one-night stand and let me say this night between them could've set the world on fire. So why wouldn't fate have them run into each other again.

Their relationship wasn't easy. They had crazy ex-girlfriends, rich parents expecting their child to follow the path made for him, horrifying flash backs, and a list of insecurities so long it's a surprise their relationship even began.

This book is another home run by Abbi Glines. It's full of drama that will suck every person that reads this book in the second they read the first page. The next time your looking for a book full of craziness pick this book up and I promise you, you won't be able to put it down until you read the very last word on the very last page.

For four years, Grace Sullivan wrote to a Marine she never met, and fell in love. But when his deployment ended, so did the letters. Ever since that day, Grace has been coasting, academically and emotionally. The one thing she’s decided? No way is Noah Jackson — or any man — ever going to break her heart again.

5 Stars!

This is the definition of dedication. Noah might have stopped writing to Grace, but he never stopped loving her. He just had to get his life in order before he could go to her and that was a mistake in Grace's eyes and probably all girls in the world. But Noah went to Grace; traveled across country just to attend the same college as Grace, to be able to make amends with Grace. He gave up his life in California to bring her back into his and his dedication to get her never ceased throughout the whole book. I love how he never gave up on her, no matter the obstacles she threw at him.

When I read this book, I felt like relationships like Grace and Noah's happen more than anyone knows. A woman or a man begins writing to a person in the army and they fall in love even without meeting. It's a truly romantic fairy tale, or at least it is in my eyes.

This book and the other two Woodlands books are a great series and definitely worth the money and the time to invest reading them. Everyone should read this series, you don't even have to read them in order! So go now, buy them and read them over and over and over!

Whore.

5 Stars!

Wow! The way that these students treated AM (AnnMarie), I am absolutely appalled. These kids were horrible and if I was AM I would have gone into hiding too, never going onto campus other than attending class. But when a new semester came around and she got a new lab partner everything changed. Bo is the cocky, swoon-worthy smile, sexy college guy that make girls like AM roll her eyes at. AM wasn't as easy as the rumors say she is. She isn't swayed easily and won't fall for anyone's tricks, especially now after all the things she's been through on her college campus. So she wasn't going to give Bo the time of day, she thought it would be easy to ignore him and go about her day, but she soon realized that she couldn't ignore the one guy that made her have butterflies in her stomach and a smile fall upon her lips. Something she hasn't had happen to her in a long time.

I fell in love with Bo and AnnMarie from the get-go. They have the easy relationship that every person hopes to have with their significant other. They go together like peanut butter and jelly, a perfect match. I also found that Bo didn't just want to save lives in the war, he wanted to help save AnnMarie. He didn't allow for anyone to tear down who AM was because of rumors spread about her. He goes to lengths that many boyfriends wouldn't to help clear AnnMarie's name. But one thing I found that I loved about AM is that she is stronger than she thought she was. As her relationship grows with Bo, AM realizes she is better than the rumors spread about her and that she has the same rights to be like every other college student who has a social life and isn't scared to be out in public. These two really grow together as the story is told, but they also had their obstacles to overcome along the way, making their relationship that much stronger. Their relationship also had sparks as bright as the stars. They would fly off these two whether they're in their Biology class or they are alone, it just never stops, but truthfully no one would really want to stop them. ;)

This book is amazing and so is the rest of the Woodlands series. They are books that should be on everyone's favorite book list, they're just that great.

Book Blurb:

Some things are worth waiting for…

Traveling thousands of miles from home to enter college is the only way nineteen-year-old Avery Morgansten can escape what happened at the Halloween party five years ago—an event that forever changed her life. All she needs to do is make it to her classes on time, make sure the bracelet on her left wrist stays in place, not draw any attention to herself, and maybe—please God—make a few friends, because surely that would be a nice change of pace. The one thing she didn’t need and never planned on was capturing the attention of the one guy who could shatter the precarious future she’s building for herself.

Some things are worth experiencing…

Cameron Hamilton is six feet and three inches of swoon-worthy hotness, complete with a pair of striking blue eyes and a remarkable ability to make her want things she believed were irrevocably stolen from her. She knows she needs to stay away from him, but Cam is freaking everywhere, with his charm, his witty banter, and that damn dimple that’s just so… so lickable. Getting involved with him is dangerous, but when ignoring the simmering tension that sparks whenever they are around each other becomes impossible, he brings out a side of her she never knew existed.

Some things should never be kept quiet…

But when Avery starts receiving threatening emails and phone calls forcing her to face a past she wants silenced, she’s has no other choice but to acknowledge that someone is refusing to allow her to let go of that night when everything changed. When the devastating truth comes out, will she resurface this time with one less scar? And can Cam be there to help her or will he be dragged down with her?

And some things are worth fighting for…

Review:

5 Stars!

Oh how I love this book! Cam is just soooo sexy. He's the ultimate jock college hot guy that every girl falls in love with. And I mean EVERY. SINGLE. GIRL. IN. THE. WORLD. He is funny-mostly sarcastic, sweet, and extremely attractive; just swoon-worthy. And Avery didn't stand a chance once Cam began pursuing her. I have always loved books with characters like Cam and Avery. Cam being the athletic, popular, sexy college guy who has a scary secret and Avery being the shy, quiet girl who has been hurt tremendously in the past that won't leave her alone. I don't know why but their love story is one that I love. Maybe it's the many obstacles the couple and individual person has to overcome to reach their HEA, I'm unsure, but this book hit the spot. There was an equal amount of mystery, love, humor, and heartbreaking moments that make this book a book everyone who loves an amazing college romance should read.
